Status and Trends Monitoring for Watershed Health and Salmon Recovery - Wadeable Streams, Washington State Department of Ecology

In the last decade, there has been a growing interest in establishing statewide monitoring to gather consistent and integrated info on chemical, physical, and biological habitat. In 2001, the state legislature passed a Senate bill requiring the development of a strategy to measure success in recovering salmon habitat and maintaining watershed health. The goal of this project is to provide quantitative, statistically valid, and consistent estimates of the status and trends in physical, chemical, and biological conditions of Washington's rivers and streams across multiple scales and is based on a probabilistic study design.
