Puget Sound Stream Benthos

Unnamed Tributary to Lower Tolt River 2022, Snoqualmie Tribe

This benthic macroinvertebrate study is proposed to monitor conditions in an unnamed tributary stream to the Tolt River, in King County, Washington. The mouth of the tributary creek empties into the Tolt River approximately 4.0 Tolt River miles above the confluence of the Tolt River and Snoqualmie River. The study reach on the unnamed creek is the reach from the creek mouth at the Tolt River, upstream to a crossing at NE 69th ST, near Carnation, Washington.

This approximately 3,500 linear foot reach is currently in the early stages of riparian restoration to improve spawning habitat for native salmonids. The restoration project is a collaboration between Seattle City Light, who owns the property, and the Snoqualmie Tribe, which stewards natural resources on its traditional lands. This benthic macroinvertebrate study will evaluate baseline conditions of aquatic organisms in the creek, and follow up surveys will be planned following restoration implementation.
